yamaha announces sxviper shock kits

In response to consumer feedback, Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA, announced it will be offering a softer calibrated shock and spring kit to 2002 SXViper and SXViper ER customers. Yamaha will be sending a letter to each registered SXViper or SXViper ER owner in the United States to inform them that the kit will be available later in the fall.
"We sold SXVipers to all kinds of riders," explained our anonymous Yamaha insider. "Our primary target market was to the rough trail enthusiast. Well, not all of our SXViper buyers fell into that category. Based on the volume of sales, we know that groomed trail veterans and casual trail riders also bought the sled. Those are the people who have been so vocal about the harsh ride quality."
The kit will consist of four Kayaba shocks and springs, calibrated for a more plush ride quality. It will be available for $189, including dealer installation, only to registered US 2002 Viper buyers.
"We are sending the letter out to gather feedback on how many units we will need to have in the system. Not everybody will want to soften the ride. As soon as we have a good feel, we can place orders with our vendors and get them processed."
