The World snowmobile Association and the Eagle River Derby Track have joined forces to sanction the 40th annual World Championship Snowmobile Derby this coming January 11-19. Derby Track General Manager Todd Achterberg commented that, "a world class event deserves world wide representation in its officiating team. Therefore we have put together a program for our 2003 event that will have the top personnel from several associations presiding over the racing action."
The WSA and Derby have scheduled opposite each other for years. This is the first time the two organizations have come together to bring the best oval racers and best snocrossers tot the same venue at the same time.
"The thought behind including multiple sanctioning organizations is to provide a level of comfort for drivers from these various areas to have one of their officials over seeing the competition," added Achterberg. "Among the organizations that have been invited are CNRA, WSA Extreme Ice Racing, OSRF, PRO and USSA."
Another distinctive feature of racing at Eagle River is that ALL ISR race affiliated organizations memberships are recognized and will be treated with reciprocity at the Derby. This saves visiting racers the expense of paying additional membership fees to race at Eagle River.
