More than 20,000 cubic feet of Ontario snow will cover the floor of the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on April 2, 1999 to create the track for the world's first indoor super snocross.
The real feat is that the Air Canada Centre will be transformed from an NBA basketball court to an indoor snocross race track and then back to basketball all within 23 hours.
How will they do it? The floor of the arena will be blanketed with a protective covering. Then a water-retention layer is added, covering the entire surface. Next, there will be a safety wall built at each end, and a layer of 3/4 inch plywood, topped with 200 round bales of hay. Then comes the snow. The snow will arrive via 300 truckloads to the site.
Then the racing begins. Four hours of racing, assisted by television cameras and a huge sound system will make this event something to behold.
Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
