Performance Motorsports, Inc., a subsidiary of Dover Corporation, has acquired Chambon S.A. of Saint Etienne, France. Chambon is an engineering and manufacturing company with an outstanding reputation for producing high quality crankshafts for OEM customers and for the European automotive race market including Formula One, F-3000, World Rally and other venues.
Performance Motorsports is an international group of premier companies in the motorsport industry including JE Pistons, Wiseco Piston, Carrillo Industries of the U.S. and Vertex Pistons (Italy), Perfect Bore Ltd. (U.K.) and ProX Inter B.V. (Netherlands). The group currently designs and manufactures internal engine components including pistons, connecting rods and cylinder liners for the automotive and powersports markets worldwide.
"This acquisition is in keeping with our strategic vision to become the leading supplier of highly engineered internal engine components for the performance market," said Jim Johnson, President of Performance Motorsports. "While the individual companies in our group will continue to operate independently, the addition of a crankshaft company to our group will give us the ability to engineer an integrated rotating assembly for our customers."
Hervé Chambon, Director General of Chambon, added "For 70 years Chambon has provided high technology and high quality products to our customers, primarily in Europe. With the support of our sister companies in the Performance Motorsports group we will be able to expand our business into new markets. In addition, the financial backing of Dover will allow us to continue to invest in the latest engineering and manufacturing technology that represents a win-win situation for our customers."
