One of the most popular sites on
travelwisconsin.com this past winter was the Snow Condition Report. Dozens of statewide reporters provided the latest snow conditions for their areas, helping to keep the information fresh as the new fallen snow.
This past season the site recorded more than 99,000 visits to the online snow condition report, more than double the activity recorded the previous season.
Snow recreation web sites were four of the top 15 web sites linking to travelwisconsin.com.
Wisconsin's tourism web site saw increased traffic as a result of e-mails sent to subscribers every week during the winter season. Tourism officials note that click-through rates on the weekly e-mails to the snow condition report were as high as 55 percent.
Wisconsin officials are already seeking ways to improve the site and its value to winter visitors. Current plans call for implementation of more consistent standards for reporting procedures and increasing the frequency of reports in some the heaviest snow areas.
