Long-Track KitsIf adding a long-track kit to your short track machine, consider buying an OEM long-track kit. If the suspension is still mounted as a short-track,it will experience undue stress, and the rear suspension's rear axle willmost likely smack the rear tunnel extension when compressed. Again, somewill try to compensate by moving the rear suspension back, but all the above-mentioned problems of ballooning and weight transfer will occur. Lube says he has not seen any failures with the aftermarket long-track kits, but that their deep-powder performance and hill-climbing capabilities are not at the same level as short-track snowmobiles equipped with OEM long-track kits. These kits will let you run the deep-profile tracks, but more importantly, the suspension's pivot points, weight transfer capabilities and function will equal that of the OEM mountain sled, without putting undue stress on the suspensions. Aftermarket long-track kits consist mainly of rail extensions,a tunnel extension and a bumper.
