wanderscheld wins eagle river derby

Jan. 16, 2005 - - At the Eagle River Derby, P.J. Wanderscheld and his Arctic Cat passed Terry Wahl in the 23rd lap of the World Championship race to win the race and claim his third title. Wahl finished second on his Polaris.

Wandersheld, a 22-year-old Sauk Centre, Minn. native, also won the championship in 2002 and 2003. He is the third racer to have won three championships - the others include Jaques Villeneuve and Dave Wahl. Villeneuve competed in this year's final and won in 1980, 1982 and 1986. Dave Wahl, Terry's uncle, won in 1990, 1996 and 1997.
