Waconia 2004, or the VSCA Midwest Ride-In, is one of the largest vintage and antique snowmobile events of the season. The event will be held in Waconia, Minnesota and will feature drag races, swap meets and silent auctions.
The event will begin Jan. 31 with the Carver County Snowrunner's swap meet from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. More than 100 vendors will display a huge selection of vintage and antique snowmobiles, used and reproduction parts, and great snowmobile memorabilia. The Cross Country Racer Display will feature several of the cross country sleds that traveled on the Winnipeg to St. Paul I-500 trip.
One of Saturday's highlights is the 11-mile Vintage and Antique Trail Ride before the Vintage and Antique Drag Races. Twenty-five classes will compete in the races with the winner of the 340 Mod Stock taking home the Waconia Cup Award. For more information about racing call 651/433-2401. After a long day of snowmobiling relax and have fun at the banquet at the Lakeside Ballroom, which will feature dinner and guest speakers. Banquet registration forms will be available Jan. 1, 2004, for information call 651/649-4688.
On Sunday the event will continue with the World's Largest Antique and Vintage Snowmobile Show, featuring more than 25 classes and 100 awards. Another event is the silent auction, which is a great place to find rare memorabilia, parts, manuals, literature and toys. The awards ceremony will culminate the event.
