update on winter use plan for yellowstone

Amsnow
With the first two "Public Comment Meetings" on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) over, the majority of commenters are looking for open access.

The DEIS is developing a new long-term plan to guide management of winter use in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks and the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway. The draft plan will have a 60 day public review with the comment period ending June 5, 2007.

Attendance at the two meetings totaled over 120 concerned citizens. 37 people favor the preferred alternative with some modifications and
only 4 participants want snowmobile access to the Parks to be eliminated
in total.

There are two additional "Public Comment Meetings," they will be held
Tuesday, May 29, 2007, in St. Paul, Minn. - Bullard Auditorium at the
Como Park Zoo & Conservatory, 1225 Estabrook Drive and on Wednesday, May 30, 2007, in Denver area (Lakewood), Colo. - Sheraton Denver West, City Lights Ballroom, 360 Union Boulevard.
