Over one year ago, October 13, President Clinton announced his proposal to restrict usage of over 40 million acres of National Forest. The number of acres threatened by this plan has grown since then to around 80 million acres. These "Roadless" areas are often not roadless at all, but are crisscrossed with numerous historic trails and tracks. The Clinton/Gore Roadless Initiative would treat these areas as Wilderness, without the due process and congressional review required by the 1964 Wilderness Act.
Shortly, President Clinton will decide the fate of up to 80 million acres of National Forest land. Become a part of the effort to preserve traditional access to these beautiful areas.
