A Victory for Cyclists, Horses and Others
That the court saw the methodology behind the EIS as problematic extends far beyond snowmobiles. It's a victory for snowmobilers, mountain bikers, horseback riders and other recreational enthusiasts. Members of these groups have been stunned to learn about similar efforts to deny their access to public lands. The new agreement it's a major setback for the elite special interest groups who are pressuring the NPS to close our nation's parks to anyone but those who fit their private agendas.
National parks were never intended to be hermetically sealed from mankind. They were created as a place where Americans could both conserve and enjoy unique natural areas within our country. Fortunately, the courts realize that before taking away the American public's right to have reasonable access to public land, there must be accurate and honorable due diligence.
America's four million snowmobilers are confident that truth, as they have maintained all along, will come out on their side.
