the argo shark

Ontario Drive & Gear manufactured the Argo brand snowmobiles from 1973 to 1977 at their plant in Hamburg, Ontario. In 1973, the Argo 400ccand 440cc models made a brief, three year appearance. In 1974, Argo againattempted to find its habitat in the snowmobile market with the release of the Shark.

The Shark was an air-cooled snowmobile which utilized the Kioritz reed valve setup. If you were looking for a liquid cooled sled, Ontario Drive & Gear offered the Super Shark which used the same reed valve feature along with dual Mikuni BNO-type carbs. Both models used the involute track and featured a tach, speedometer, temperature gauge, ski- and rear-mountedshocks.

Despite the company's best efforts, these sleds weren't the money makers it envisioned they would be and in 1976, the line was discontinued. The production focus for ODG changed quickly. All efforts became concentrated on the Argo brand six and eight wheel ATVs which are still in production today.
