Polaris Indy XCF SPThe Indy XCF SP from Polaris is a racer-wannabe sled with some perks specific to raceability. "On the EDGE chassis, the rider position is quite different," said Test Rider Doug Erickson. The seat sits a bit higher than those on the Gen II chassis and has comfy integrated side panels. Additionally, the XCF has tunnel roll boot grips and higher racer-style handlebars, which lend themselves to standup type racing. A speedometer and tachometer come standard as part of the XCF's package.
Under the hood of the EDGE-based XCF, lies a high-output 440 fan, 34mm Mikuni aluminum carbs and magnesium chaincase for lighter weight.
The XCF is built on the EDGE platform, and that means controlled roll center geometry up front and dual angle tunnel out back. A change in engine mounting allows for a lower center of gravity- a benefit when racing.
Threaded Fox adjustable IFP shocks dress out the front end, allowing 9.4-inches of travel. Tipped in trailing arms and an adjustable ski stance from 41- to 42.5-inches provide further stability. Composite skis come standard.
Rear skid allows nearly 14-inches of rear-axle travel, 9.8-inches of actual vertical travel, is fully coupled and sports dual Fox shocks.
Overall the graphics, sassy red color and styling received sevens and eights from our test riders. The XCF has more of a racer wannabe appeal. It's got many features which make this sled worth its $4,999 asking price.
