TAYLOR: OFF-ROAD RACER
If you know off-road truck racing, you'll know Scott Taylor and recognize his distinctive Skyjacker suspension-sponsored Ford truck as it's regularly fighting for the lead.
Taylor, 53, is a 7-time PRO-2 CORR champion with 49 wins in CORR races. His full-time backing by Ford and BF Goodrich allows him to build his own tube chassis race trucks at his race shop in Belvidere, Ill. He always has first-class power too, a Yates-built aluminum block Ford engine powering his race truck through a 3-speed Turbo 4 automatic transmission.
The 2008 season started slow for Taylor, while he sorted out his new chassis, but by mid-season he landed a podium in California. Finally, on Labor Day, he won the World Series of Off-Road Racing World Championship in Crandon, Wis., bringing home his second Borg Warner Cup. Taylor beat the 4-wheel-drive trucks with his 2-wheel-drive Ford. He also won the event in 2002. Last season he won the WSORR championship by taking 6 wins in 13 races. More info:
