Hundreds of sleds and drivers are expected for the 18th Annual TORCO/
AmSnow Super Sled Shoot-Out in Martin, Mich., Sept. 22-23.
This is the second year for the event on the ¼-mile asphalt at the modern Knoll Gas Motorsports Park (formerly US 131 Dragway) in Martin. The Shoot-Out again is sanctioned by the National Snowmobile Drag Racing Association. Last year's event drew 168 sleds and included a 71-sled bracket race along with 5 paying races.
This year's program will be equally exciting with the following events:
-Quick 16 Heads Up program for all motor sleds. No cc limit, no weight minimum, no power adders (nitrous, turbo, etc.) with $2,000 to win guaranteed with 16-sled field. There is a $100 entry fee. The 2006 Champion was Adam Fricke from Don Rastovski Racing.
-Quick 16 Heads Up program for nitrous/turbo sleds. No cc limit, no weight minimums. Normally aspirated sleds ARE allowed to "bump" into the power adder class. There's a $2,000 price to win, guaranteed with 16-sled field. Entry fee is $100. The 2006 Champion was Tim Steinke of Jeff Simons' CPR Racing.
-Bracket Sled Shoot-Out on Saturday is a full program with $1,500 to win guaranteed. Entry fee is $50. The 2006 Champion was Greg Antonioni, NSNP Racing.
-Bracket Sled Shoot-Out on Sunday is a full program with $1,500 to win guaranteed. Entry fee is $50. The 2006 Champion was Jeff Jaquish, NSNP Racing
-Pro Stock 800 for 800cc max. sleds, no weight minimum, no power adders, Heads Up racing is Saturday only. Prize is $1,000 to win guaranteed with 8-sled field. Entry fee is $50. The 2006 Champion was Dave Goodwill from Ron Bray Racing.
-Pro Stock 1000 (NSA AND NSDRA RULES ARE OK) This will be either a 16 sled, or larger field based on entries. 650 lbs., race fuel only, 1020cc max displacement.
In addition, spectators will enjoy watching
AmSnow test a variety of stock sleds on the asphalt for time and speed, the results of which will be posted on our Web site shortly after the event, as well as in a future magazine.
Fans attending the Shoot-Out also will be able to test ride Yamaha snowmobiles on a test circuit adjacent to the grandstands. So come out and enjoy a weekend of fast times and exciting sleds in Martin, Mich. The track is located just off US 131, midway between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo.
