Based on conversations with industry insiders, American Snowmobiler has learned that you best expect a "Penske" style effort coming out of Roseau, Minnesota, and its Polaris racing team. Insiders tell us that Polaris racing has been given the financial go-ahead and staffing to get the job done in putting together a top flight racing program. That means a professional appearance in the pits, over the road and… in the victory circle.
New racing manager, Dave Williams, formerly with Polaris' service and warranty group in Minneapolis, has moved back to Roseau to head up the program for the '99-'00 season. He has been given additional staff to make certain that independent racers get all pertinent updates. And it is rumored - heavy on the rumored - that Polaris may spring a few surprises in driver signings. Expect to see more competitive sled and rider combinations from the Polaris team this winter.
As the Hay Day grass racing approaches, don't be surprised if you see greater emphasis on winning made by Polaris at that event.
