snowmobiler killed at the thunder bay 250 race last weekend

A competitor was killed in a crash at the Thunder Bay 250 Snowmobile races in Alpena.

Gary Kitchen of Elmira was killed when he lost control of his sled in a 30 lap Pro-Am race on Saturday Kitchen was rounding the corner of the fifth lap of the race when he lost control of his sled and slid sideways. Another racer then hit him, throwing him from his snowmobile.

Kitchen was well liked in the racing circuit and had been named rookie of the year in 2003.
