skidoo releases new dualpurpose sled

Ski-Doo announced today that it is releasing a very limited quantity of the Summit Renegade 800. Call it a long-track MX Z or a widened stance Summit, the Renegade package is said to be the industry's first true crossover sled (except for Polaris' SKS line), featuring a deep snow track with trail riding suspensions.
Up front, the Renegade uses Ski-Doo's ADSA unequal-length radius rod geometry, like the trail -friendly MX Z family. HPG shocks are incrporated to handle the big bumps of the western trails. Cornering will be made more stable than on the regular Summits, thanks to the retention of the MX Z 42.5-inch ski stance. Ski-Doo says the front will deliver eight inches of travel.
Out back, the Summit Renegade will incorporate the more aggressive SC-10 II double coupled skidframe. Again, HPG shocks will control the ten inches of suspension travel. Spinning around the stretched SC-10 II rails will be a 136-inch track with1.25-inch lugs.
Ski-Doo mated its high tech DPM system with a pair of TM 40 flat slide carbs. The system automatically compensates for changes in temperature and altitude to feed the 800 twin the optimum fuel/air ratio.
Like the other Summits, the Renegade package will feature a flexible mountain grab strap in the center of the tall, mountain style handlebars and boot gripping running boards.
Ski-Doo is positioning this sled for the consumers who want to ride the trails and the bowls in the mountains. It offers the wide-stance and sport suspensions for blasting up the forest roads and the deep lug long track for motoring through the deep powder once the trail runs out.
The Summit Renegade 800 lists for $8,099 (US) and $10,499 (CDN) and will be available at your local dealership in very limited numbers around the middle of January.
