Ski-Doo already in the last month has revealed two new engines for 2009, the clean-burning Rotax 600 H.O. E-TEC 2-stroke and the 4-TEC 1200 4-stroke.
Both slip into Ski-Doo's lightweight XP platform and now come with two new XP body variations, the REV-XR and REV-XU bodies for the new 4-stroke engine and utility segments. All this in Ski-Doo's 50th anniversary year.

Here's a brief look at some other significant '09 models, beyond the E-TEC and 4-TEC snowmobiles. Note though that the MXZ 1200 4-stroke is said to weigh only 499 lbs., which would make it the lightest 4-stroke on the market.
The GTX and Expedition have been upgraded. The GTX SE is almost entirely new as is the Expedition TUV. The GTX SE, in the XR body, will have the 4-TEC as an engine option, tilt steering, Air Spring rear suspension, new 5.7 Straight Line skis that are wide/square/single keel and less aggressive than on the performance snowmobiles.
The Expedition TUV 600 H.O. SDI comes in the new REV-XU utility platform. The TUV comes with new styling, is 84 lbs. lighter than the old Yeti II platform with the 600 H.O. SDI engine, has more legroom, is better handling and offers better deep snow flotation. For more, read the Spring issue of
