Shaun Crapo is riding again, after a spiral fracture to his right fibula sidelined him at the snocross opener in Duluth Thanksgiving weekend. Crapo is starting heats, but not racing. "We're letting him start, pull off and let the other racers pass by, and then cross the finish line when everyone else is finished…we're having him do this for points," said Bob Bohman, TEAM Race Manager.
According to the WSA rulebook, if a racer is sidelined with an injury, he can still add points to his standing by starting a race. "While he isn't racking up much for points, he's getting a few that could make a difference at the end of the season…we're very hopeful that he's going to be back winning races for us in the very near future," added Bohman.
Crapo is anxious to get back to full strength, but is taking necessary precautions to insure proper healing to his leg. "I'm working the leg everyday and getting ultrasound treatments," said Crapo in a phone interview. "I just wish I was back full strength-I can't wait to win more races." Crapo is expected to be back in time for the Winter X Games in Aspen Colorado. Last year Shaun was the only semi-pro racer to challenge the pros, finishing 4th place. Thanks to that incredible finish, he was automatically entered into this year's games without having to pre-qualify. As a pro, Crapo is hoping to create some noise again at this year's X-Games. "I want to get back soon so I can get some seat time before the X-Games."
