savage on sleds time for oh 9s
Amsnow
Spring is a tough time of year. We're all out pounding the trails to squeeze in that last ride or two before the snows start to disappear. (Those lucky mountain guys will be able to stretch it until June or maybe even July this year!) Yet, the industry also is at full torque.
That's why this issue is such a blast to put together for you each year.
We load up 17 pages of exciting new '09s from the Big 4. Who would have thought last year that 2-stroke loving Ski-Doo would launch a major 4-stroke engine, in the prime of its lineup, to compete with Yamaha? And the new clean-burning E-TEC will turn a lot of heads in the coming year.
Over at Arctic Cat there's a screaming new Turbo on its 4-stroke Z1 that should send the lake racers into convulsions and looks like it'll be the trails' new Mr. Nasty!
Yamaha continues to widen its lineup with a crossover Nytro, the XTX that delivers a trail-friendly ride with a tipped-up rail, yet will boondock with the other crossovers on the market.
Polaris keeps thumping its chest in the mountains and brings an Assault that should rock out there, and maybe even on some flatter terrain. Plus, Polaris continues to aggressively go after the low cost, value buyers in most segments with its Shift models.
That would be enough to keep most of us happy for a bit, but we know it's a long summer, so AmSnow gives you more in this issue. We also pack in our annual Real World Shoot-Out full of stats you can use as you head into sled-buying decisions next fall. In addition to the vital acceleration numbers, we give you Wet Weights, cause nobody rides their sled Dry, and Real World gas mileage data too.
Our Mountain Team pulled out all the stops to deliver more thorough Real World tests for the steeps too, complete with Wet Weights for the best-selling 800s. Turning radius tests were done too, and we timed the four bruisers to see who IS king of the hill.
So ride as late as you can this year, take your issue of AmSnow with you and we'll see you in the fall!
