savage on sleds super soggy

You may think this a stretch, but I have a simple theory about weather ... it all averages out. Sooo, after a dry winter last season and a HOT dry summer I think we’re in for an extremely wet, snowy, cold winter.
My latest piece of evidence? Our soggy Super Sled Shootout in late September.
After a summer of drought the weather world started averaging out with persistent rain this fall, and during the Shootout’s 3-day weekend run in Michigan.
The good news, we dodged enough showers and the U.S. 131 workers worked overtime to dry the track. So we wedged in six complete races and you can see the full results on p. 32 More photos are online at www.AmSnow.com/super.
Coming up we’ll also be in Woodgate, N.Y., outside Old Forge, in early December to test a corral full of stock sleds and run some custom mod machines including turbo and supercharged sleds to see how they rank at our New York Shootout. I’m betting on precipitation so I think we’ll have plenty of snow for that event!
December will be here before you know it, and you can see the N.Y. results on our website even before they get into the February issue, if you’re a subscriber.
But at this time of year many of us are turning our attention to the holidays, in addition to cleaning up the sled and hitting the zerk fittings on the trailer. So in this issue, check out our annual holiday Gift Guide (starting on p. 50) to get some ideas for your favorite snowmobiler. We have selected some fun new items, starting as low as $6. We know it’s not the Sears Wish Book of years ago, but it’s a great place to browse for unique snowmobiler gift ideas!
Next up in our lineup is the January issue where we point our laser beam at the snowmobile racing world. But there’s more on the Web now, and in our twice monthly email newsletters. Check out the goodies below!
