saber invitational sled report psi 1400 genesis

Our first glimpse at this 300+ horsepower behemoth came at last year's Trail Mod Invitational. At that time, the 1400 Genesis was less than a week old. Kahlhamer and company have spent the following year working on design refinements for the cylinders.

"We added our new Variable Exhaust Portsystem to the cylinders, along with larger triple exhaust ports and some slight changes in the triple boost intake ports, in an effort to crank upthe top end flow and power" commented Kahlhamer. "It's seen some pretty awesome results."

The 1400 kit PSI brought to this year's Saber Invitational was housedin a 1999 ZRT chassis. The Genesis package includes three cylinders, threecustom 91mm pistons, three tuned pipes and silencers, a 70mm billet stroker crankshaft, the mods to the crank case, a set of Dial-A-Dome heads and the assorted gaskets and O-rings for assembly.

"This has been a fun project," added the sled's owner, JohnZeimetz. "To handle all the power this thing generates, I went witha Micro Belmont Micro Reactor clutch. It's a great piece of design work." The sled used 44mm carbs to deliver enough fuel to the hungry cylinders.

To help it hook up, the 1400 had 240 1.25-inch studs, both picks and chisel tooth studs, on a Camoplast speed track.

"I also added a lot of cosmetic work to the sled," noted Zeimetz."I had all the front suspension components powder coated, along witha lot of the engine bay components. I like a sled that looks good."

Our tech staff tested the engine at 168 pounds of cranking compression. The sled was using Sunoco 118 race gas during its runs. The 1400 Genesis-powered ZRT tipped the scales at 553 pounds during inspection.
