Renton Coil Spring signed a strategic alliance with Carpenter Technology Corporation's Dynamet, Inc. subsidiary in mid-July to firm up the company's access to Dynamet's Ultimate Performance Grade titanium.
"Our cooperation is a good example of the customer responsiveness and market opportunity that can be realized with effective supply chain management," noted Renton's CEO Charles Pepka in a written statement. "By working more closely with Dynamet, one of our long-time suppliers, we'll now be able to offer original equipment manufacturers the same high level of spring performance that historically was only available to the high-end racing industry."
Dynamet's UPG Beta material will be produced to RCS's specifications,
enabling the manufacture of high performance titanium springs with a variety of load capabilities and a broad range of spring rates. RCS's UPG products have been used in snowmobile clutch and suspension springs, top fuel dragster valve springs, motocross and downhill bike suspension springs, among others.
Titanium springs are lighter and hold their spring rate better than standard steel springs.
