Since the inception of the National Speed Association 4 years ago, the Pro Stock Asphalt snowmobile series has offered some of the best racing of its kind.

One of the most memorable finals in NSA history was in 2006 during the Camoplast Asphalt Challenge. Two of NSA's finest, Jeff Cullen (Abbott's Power Equipment) and Jeremy Hannen (San Marino Racing) squared off in the final round with identical reaction times and extremely close ET's. It was Hannen who came out victorious with his 8.503 ET over Cullen's 8.542 ET.

Hannen and Cullen, both past NSA Champions, will be ready to compete in the NSA's 2008 season opener for the 3rd Annual Camoplast Asphalt Challenge at New England Dragway on June 14th.

Teams returning this year include Joe Riccardi on the San Marino Racing custom Pro Stock Asphalt Sled, the Scooter Boy/Big-E Racing Team of Scott Marsh and Eric Conklin from New York, Gary Schweikert on his Ski-Doo R/T of Slatington, Pa., the Chuckaroo Motorsports Ski-Doo R/T with rider Lee Hunter, Kevin Zucco from Agawam, Mass., on the Zucco Racing Yamaha, Bichteman Racing's Ski-Doo Pro Stock with rider Chris Smith and 2-time NSA event winner Ed Armstrong on the A2Z Racing Yamaha. The 6 veteran race teams from Maine are also ready to do battle - Jay Pearl on the Bangor Motorsports Arctic Cat Pro Stock, Ryan Mason of Hancock, Maine, on his Ski-Doo Pro Stock, Kristin Stanley and Jeff Cullen on the Polaris team of Abbott's Power Equipment and PCS Performance, Mark Wakem of Poland, Maine, on his Firecat Pro Stock and Ken Lund of Brunswick, Maine, on the Wise Man Racing Polaris Edge Pro Stock.

This powerful lineup will be facing some strong newcomers to the NSA series this season. Making their official NSA debut will be the daSilva Motorsports Team with rider Paul daSilva from Danville, N.H., the Pro Stock asphalt sled of Hudson Valley, N.Y.'s John Renauld, the Meyer Racing MRE powered Ski-Doo CK-III with Dan Meyer from Maine riding and the brand new 2007 Ski-Doo Rev MRE powered Pro Stock sled of Swartwout Racing's Dale Swartwout from New York.

There will be three qualifying sessions (time permitting) for the NSA Pro Stock snowmobiles on Sat., June 14, starting at noon. Eliminations for the top 16 qualifiers will begin at 6:00 p.m. For info about the June 14 Jet Wars show at New England Dragway call 603-679-8001 or visit www.newenglanddragway.com.

The 4th Annual Camoplast Asphalt Challenge at New England Dragway will be the first of six NSA events which will take place at different drag strips in 2008. There are three dates at New England Dragway in Epping, N.H., June 14, July 12 and August 9. An inaugural event is scheduled for June 28 at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Pa., and the 4th Annual NSA Pro Stock Asphalt Challenge is scheduled for August 16 at Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek, Md. To put a period on the NSA Championship points series this season, NSA is scheduled to compete in the 7th Annual IHRA Nitro Jam Canadian Nationals on Sept. 19-21.
