Owned and operated by famed racer and engine guru Steve Houle, Speedwerx has been cranking out blazing fast high-performance parts for more than 10 years. In fact, Houle's shop produced the open mod 800 engines for the Arctic Cat Pro Open factory chassis, and he's the engine tuner for factory Arctic Cat team sleds.
Donatelle knows something about high-performance snowmobiles as well. As a machinist and former racer, he's amassed considerable tuning and high-performance knowledge in a snowmobile drag racing career that started in 1981 and spanned two decades. Currently, he travels the country competing in major pit bike races.
He wanted a refined high-performance trail sled with the quickest corner-to-corner time while maintaining reliability. "I've owned a lot of different sleds over the years," he said. "I've had Polaris Edges and I have a 2004 Ski-Doo REV 800. The guys at Speedwerx kept telling me that this Firecat was the sled to have, so I thought I would try it out."
Donatelle typically owns and rides two to four sleds each season. His REV 800 is substantially tweaked, and once he buys a sled it doesn't stay stock for long.
