polaris upgrades model year 2005 900 fusion track

In what we consider a great move by Polaris, the snowmobile company just announced that all Model Year 2005 900 Fusion snowmobiles will be delivered to dealerships with a 1.25" deep lug, Camoplast Rip Saw track.
This is a terrific move as test riding revealed that the new engine's torque characteristics totally overpowered the shorter lugged, short track Fusion, allowing major track spin virtually every time you rushed the throttle trigger beyond idle. This track upgrade from the originally introduced one-inch lug track will not affect dealer cost or MSRP.
From our on-sled test riding experiences, we can assure you that this move will be a major asset to the Fusion's on-trail handling. We knew the new engine had torque as we could feel major arm-strain when torching the throttle on the deep lug, long tracked RMK 900s. But when we did the same with the Fusion, all we got was track spin- for a long way down the trail. During our initial test rides of the Fusion we weren't certain Polaris had assessed the situation the same way as we did. We were getting zero feedback that such track slip was "normal" or abnormal. We felt it was a problem. So it would appear, Polaris agreed. And it won't cost you extra.
Polaris claims "The Rider Benefit" of this aggressive deep lug track when combined with the new IQTM rear suspension and enormous low-end torque of the Liberty 900 engine will result "…in a new standard for arm-stretching acceleration." We agree it definitely will help.
However, when installing studs on the new 1.25" Camoplast track, a rear cooler protector kit will be required (Part# 2874687). The kit includes two strips of hyfax that install from the rear of the tunnel and slide along both sides of cooler. The Fusion tunnel has built-in stud protectors.
