'Hockey's Holy Grail'
The Stanley Cup is the oldest trophy competed for by professional athletes. Dubbed "Hockey's Holy Grail" by some and "The People's Trophy" by others, it also is the only sports trophy with its own bodyguard (the Keeper of the Cup) and spends a day with each player who wins it.
Festivities celebrating the 2004 NHL All-Star Weekend begin Tuesday, Feb. 3, when NHL All-Star FANtasy opens its doors to the public at 4 p.m. (CST). Tickets ($15 for adults, $11 for children, and free for kids under age 2) are available at Ticketmaster outlets and the Minnesota Wild arena box office.
Tickets ($15 for adults, $11 for children) also may be purchased for the Kellogg's Frosted Flakes/NHL All-Star Practice, set for Saturday, Feb. 7, at 9:30 a.m. (CST), through Ticketmaster outlets or the Wild arena box office.
NHL All-Star Saturday, featuring the NHL YoungStars Game presented by Upper Deck and the Dodge/NHL SuperSkills Competition, starts at 6:45 p.m. (CST) on Feb. 7, and may be seen live on ESPN in the United States, or on CBC and RDS in Canada.
The 2004 NHL All-Star Game may be seen live on ABC in the U.S. and CBC and RDS in Canada starting at 2 p.m. (CST) on Sunday, Feb. 8. During the intermissions, the NHL will announce members of the NHL Legendary All-Star Team brought to you by Nextel, and will have one lucky fan Shoot for a Million Bucks as part of a promotion by POWERade.
