Polaris praised its three WSA award winners from the national snocross series. Awards were recently given at the year-end banquet following the last race of the year at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
Matt Judnick took the top prize in the Semi-Pro Stock class and a second in the Semi-Pro Open. Judnick battled with fellow Polaris driver Mike Schultz for the top Stock slot over most of the season. Schultz ended the season with a third place in both classes.
Team Team driver Shaun Crapo took home the Rookie of the Year award for his outstanding performance in the second half of the season. Shaun was sidelined for the beginning couple rounds of the circuit after an injury early in the winter.
Crapo also took home the Sportech Holeshot award for grabbing the lead in the first corner more than any other racer over the entire season. "This award is as much Shaun's as it is the hardworking crew of Polaris engineers dedicated to this project," said Polaris Race Team Manager Tom Rager Sr. "The development of the Dragon Ignition system by our race development crew in Roseau dramatically improved our performance on the race track this past season, and the Holeshot award proves it. This is just the tip of the iceberg of things to come."
Crapo's teammate on the Team Team, Levi LaVallee, won the WSA's Rising Star award for his fill-in performance in the Pro ranks this season. Kurtis Crapo was benched by an injury in the first race of the year and LaVallee was promoted from Semi-Pro to Pro duties to fill his position. He qualified for every final event he entered.
"We knew Levi was ready to make the jump to the Pro ranks at the close of last year," commented Rager. "But to take over those duties after the race season has begunis no easy task. Levi not only made it look easy, he was a competitive force in every race he entered."
