March 17, 2005 - - Polaris Industries and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have announced a product safety recall on three 2005 models, all with the 900 engine. Affected models are the 900 Fusion, 900 RMK and 900 Switchback. The sleds are being recalled due to a wiring harness issue.
The commission reports that about 11,560 sleds were recalled because "the snowmobile wiring harness may be routed in a way that could disconnect the engine stop switch and the throttle safety switch connector," which could stop the function of these devices and possibly cause an accident.
The fix? Polaris dealers will fix the problem for free by installing a jumper wire and securing the existing wiring harness, the company says.
