polaris recalls 2009 iq widetrak snowmobiles

Polaris has voluntarily recalled 540 of its' 2009 IQ WIDETRAK snowmobiles due to a potential to cause an electric shock hazard to riders, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

According to the USPSC's website, the insulation of the electrical cord for the engine and battery heaters could fail during cold temperatures. This failure could result in an electric shock.

There have been no injuries reported.

This recall involves 2009 Polaris IQ WIDETRAK snowmobiles with the engine block or battery heaters directly installed, according to the USPSC.

Consumers should look for Model number S09PU7ES, which is printed on the right side of the tunnel below the seat.

In addition, this recall involves Polaris accessory engine block heaters and battery heaters that were manufactured in the United States.

These snowmobile accessories were sold from January 2008 through January 2009 for $60 to $90 at dealerships. The WIDETRAK snowmobiles were sold from April 2008 through February 2009 for around $8,400.

Riders should immediately stop using the recalled product and contact any Polaris dealer to schedule a free repair. Polaris has notified registered owners directly about this recall.
