polaris recalls 200203 frontier models

Amsnow
Polaris Industries Inc., of Medina, Minn, has undertaken a voluntary recall of an estimated 900 Polaris model year 2002 and 2003 Frontier Classic and Frontier Touring snowmobiles with model numbers S02NT7DS, S03ND7DS and S03NT7DS.

The recall is due to a potential problem with the gasket between the fuel pump assembly and the fuel tank that could permit gasoline to leak from the fuel tank. If this were to occur, the leaking gasoline could ignite and could result in severe injury or death.

To date neither Polaris nor the Consumer Products Safety Commission has reported any severe incidents due to this situation.

The model number can be found on the right hand side of the sled tunnel. The snowmobiles have a green hood and pan, with silver graphics. "Frontier" is prominently displayed on the right and left side of the hood covering the engine. Polaris dealers sold these snowmobiles nationwide from December 12, 2001 through April 25, 2003.

Polaris has notified consumers directly about this recall. Those consumers affected by the recall should contact their Polaris dealer to schedule an appointment for the dealer to replace the gasket.

For more information, contact Polaris at (800) 765-2747 between 10 a.m. and 12 a.m. ET Monday through Friday.
