Word is that the Polaris museum is nearing completion in Roseau, Minnesota. The center will showcase the history of Polaris through archives of photos and memorabilia, but more significantly through historic Polaris product.
You can expect to view the X-2 speed challenge snowmobile. This racing machine of the early era of snowmobile speed was one in a line of speed challenge sleds built and raced by the Polaris racing team.
There will be displays of the first Polaris ATVs, including a sample of the Polaris 3-wheeler, which was developed and produced alongside the 4-wheeleers. The 3-wheeler was discontinued almost immediately due to an industry-wide agreement with the Consumer Products Safety Commission ban on such vehicles.
Look for other historic Polaris snow machines, including one of the earliest surviving examples of the company's entry into snowmobiling in the mid-1950s.
The official opening for the museum is expected later in the winter, so stay tuned.
