polaris launches two early 07 sleds

Jan. 23, 2006 - -Polaris is giving consumers a sneak peek at two high-horse '07 sleds beginning with demo rides across the snowbelt starting in February.

The Medina, Minn., firm says it is conducting a pilot build of two new 600 H.O. models in limited quantities. Polaris will show off a new 600 H.O. in the IQ chassis and another in the RMK chassis, with a 155-inch track.

Consumers can get a look, and a ride, at select Polaris dealerships, snowmobile rallies and races and demo events in February, March and April if the weather permits.

Eric Lindquist, Polaris snowmobiles general manager, says the early run is being made to allow more riders to experience the new 600 H.O.'s power and to see and feel the improvements made to these two mainline '07 models.

Polaris says the '07 600 H.O. IQ will feature the popular IQ IFS front suspension along with enhanced skis and mounting geometry to cut steering effort. The sled also has lost some weight and now features fixed steering (instead of Rider Select) with a standard riser and hooked handlebars. A digital gauge package is standard on the sled.

No pricing was announced.

The mountain sled, the RMK with the new high-output 600 will deliver what Polaris calls a "raw" look with a redesigned tunnel and chassis and innovative new cooling system, all while losing 25 pounds.

The RMK also will feature a fixed steering system, as does the IQ model, plus will come with a new purpose-built ski. Add to that a deep-lug Series 5 155-inch long track. Again, no pricing for the new mountain machine was announced.
