polaris announces new 900 switchback

Dec. 1, 2004 - - Polaris announced today that it will produce a limited run mid-season long-tracked version of the 900 Switchback, set to hit dealer floors in mid-December.
The new sled is aimed at the trail rider who likes to romp off trail to cut through a couple feet of powder. The floatation capabilities of the 144- x 15-inch track with 1.25-inch lugs is slated to give this boondocker the option of tackling mountain steeps AND speeding down the trails.
The Switchback has the new IQ control arm front suspension with Polaris' patent-pending variable caster design. At 42.5 inches, the ski stance is wider than the RMK and the same width as the Fusion. It also has the Rider Select steering system with 7 different handlebar position settings. Like other Switchbacks, it has a specially designed belly pan and tunnel to help the sled run on top of the snow and create less drag.
It also features the Liberty 900 engine with Cleanfire Injection, which includes a fuel management and timing system to adjust engine calibration automatically when elevation and atmospheric conditions change.
The rear suspension is built on the IQ chassis. It's a dual-angle rail version of the RMK, meant to take the abuse of big mogul trail riding while being able to perform in the mountain powder.
Polaris is making a small production run of this sled, less than one per each of Polaris' dealers. Price? $8,999.
