polaris 50th celebration proves way out

Amsnow
St. Paul, Minn. - Polaris marked its first 50 years with a "Way Out" celebration at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds here July 24-25, and naturally snowmobiles had a starring role.

Polaris said its two-day anniversary party, which touted its new "The Way Out" theme, was designed to "blow your hair back," and it did!

The fun started Saturday morning with a roaring flyby of five A-10 Warthog jets at an altitude so low that you could nearly read the warning labels on the bottom of the jets' cockpits. Snowmobiles were next up with the new 900 Fusion stealing the show, and it didn't matter if it was the anniversary edition, mountain version, or grass drag modified sled - everyone was talking Fusion!

Drag fans had to see the on-site dyno test where, after minimal tweaking by Polaris engineers, the Fusion 900 registered an impressive 4.3 seconds in a dyno pull of 500 feet on its first try. Fusion certainly should be a competitor on the lakes this winter!

While Fusion was stealing the show from the other sleds, Ryan Britt was pocketing the entire show from the other exhibitions. Britt is Polaris' new FSX rider and was having his heel-clicking fun about 35 feet above ground. The ramp and landing setup for Britt was perfect for his Pro XR and he drew almost the entire crowd from all the other product sites for each of his high-flying shows.

Britt also took the Fusion onto the freestyle jump and proved the 900 was not afraid to fly. The new big boy from Polaris launched off the ramp with ease and Ryan landed the sled like he had just popped off a 2-foot mogul. It's obvious Polaris has spent a lot of time dialing in the new IQ chassis. - Mark Boncher
