Starting Sept. 9th and 10th snowmobile race fans will have a new type of competition to watch - Dragcross!
This new ISR-sanctioned form of grass drag racing includes two small jumps in wood chips near the beginning of a 500 foot-long drag track with four 25-foot wide lanes. The goal of this new racing is to combine some of the excitement of snocross with the allure of a heads-up grass drag. "We want the average guy to be able to come out with his snocross or trail sled and have some fun," said coordinator Bob Burness of Shock Therapy Inc. There will be 10 ft. of track before the first 4-foot jump and a 60-foot downhill grade to the second rolling 4-foot jump.
Class structure and other details are yet to be disclosed, but 3 weekends of racing have been scheduled. Weekends include the Sept. 9th/10th, Sept. 30th/Oct. 1st, and Oct. 28th/29th. All racing will take place at the Owosso Community airport in Owosso, Mich.
