Snowmobiling on Mt. Jefferson, which sits on the border of Montana and Idaho in the Continental Divide, may cease if the Beaverhead-Deerlodge Draft Revised Forest Plan is implemented.

Areas that would be closed include the popular Hell Roaring Basin and Mt. Jefferson itself in Montana. These areas were previously up for closure in December 1999, but the area was left open due to an overwhelming response by snowmobilers.

The Blue Ribbon Coalition is urging snowmobilers to help keep this popular area open for snowmobiling by sending a letter saying that the area is important to you, to snowmobiling and to access and recreation in general.
