Union BayFor the second year now, we've enjoyed the chance to test a Union Bay product on the steeps and in the deep. This year we rode an M7 with a 162-inch track prepared by Cody Harding.
It has a 900 billet aluminum motor that was mapped to Cat's EFI system with a BoonDocker's Control Box that remapped the EFI system for differing demands. The motor pounds out 190 hp from a 91-mm bore and 70-mm stroke.
The M7 had a new coil-over suspension with Fox Float shocks. Up front it navigated the mountains on SLP Powder Pro skis.
The Union Bay 900 used a BoonDocker's Liquid Nitrous System and dumped its exhaust through twin-tuned pipes by SLP.
"It was clutched more for drag racing than hill-climbing, but overall the combination worked well," said test rider Kevin Allred, who spent a lot of time on this sled. "The Attack 20 track with seven-eighths-inch holes drilled in it made the sled lighter still. Also, the Union Bay billet top end is a magnificent piece to look at, and its power is as good as the looks. The performance was all there, on demand, when I needed it."
