The Midwest International Racing Association (MIRA) signed a deal last week with a major, non-snowmobile company to sponsor its 1999-2000 oval racing series. US Tobacco Co. has agreed to be the NASCAR-style Enduro series' main sponsor.
MIRA has been promoting Enduro racing for 20 years. Its 21st season will be the first under the leadership of its new president Karl Schwartz. "This is a huge step in Enduro racing to move away from the snowmobile manufacturers for our financial support," he said in an official release. "It's tough for the OEMs to provide for all the different racing groups out there today. This relationship with US Tobacco is coming at a prefect time, as we are growing and they recognize snowmobiling as an audience they want."
MIRA also announced that Saginaw PowerSports Center, of Saginaw, MI, has procured secondary title sponsorship of the series.
Series contingency sponsors for the coming season include Woody's, Marshall Distributing, Inline Oil, Rough Rider Trailers, SAF-JAC by Dowco, Polaris, Arctic Cat, Menominee Gaming Casino and FXR.
