Under terms of an agreement between Redline and McLaren Performance Technologies, Inc., McLaren Performance will perform final assembly and testing of the 800cc twin engine that will power Redline's 800 Revolt snowmobile.
McLaren Performance, which has commenced assembly and testing of the Redline engine at its facilities in Livonia, MI, will ship the assembled and tested engines to Redline's contract assembler, Interstate Companies, Inc., for integration into the 800 Revolt snowmobile and shipment to Redline's dealer network.
This past September, McLaren Performance was acquired by Canadian-based Linamar Corporation, a major, tier 1 automotive supplier of precision-machined engine, transmission and chassis components and sub-assemblies.
"This agreement aligns Redline with one of the most well respected testing and design organizations in the automotive industry," said Kent Harle, Chief Executive Officer of Redline. "We have been working with McLaren Performance and its parent company Linamar for several months and are very excited to be moving forward with this assembly relationship. We believe that this relationship reinforces our commitment to deliver a snowmobile with an engine that has the power, performance and durability it has been designed to deliver."
Mr. Harle continued, "Developing our own engine and outsourcing the production of that engine was the final step in fulfilling another key component of our business strategy. This agreement completes the outsourced assembly process for the 800 Revolt snowmobile. By working together with our manufacturing and assembly partners, we expect to begin limited shipments of the 800 Revolt snowmobile in mid-December 2003 and expect to deliver a total of 600-700 units of the 800 Revolt snowmobile during the 2003-2004 snowmobile season."
Russ Pollack, Vice President of Business Development for McLaren Performance, commented, "McLaren Performance is very excited about the opportunity that Redline has given us to provide powertrain assembly and testing for the 800 Revolt snowmobile. We are impressed by the overall quality, performance and level of detail that this engine and snowmobile possess.
McLaren Performance has a heritage of motorsport and performance related engine experience so it is fitting that we can complement a performance-minded organization like Redline. We look forward to the launch of the 800 Revolt snowmobile, as well as other potential future opportunities that this relationship might produce."
