They said that it couldn't be done, but last weekend
AmSnow watched Jeff Simons and Simons CPR prove that a sled could blast through the quarter-mile in less than eight seconds. On saturday, at Martin Dragway in Martin, Mich. the Simons CPR Yamaha RX-1 Turbo produced a 170 mph run in 7.97 seconds. "We are excited and think it will go faster," said owner Jeff Simons.
The combined asphalt and grass drag event was put together by Jamie Bellman - NSDRA and Bellman Oil - and Ken Crouch - PSGDRA. These two combined forces to give racers and spectators plenty of action to get their adrenaline flowing. Guys and gals alike could be seen prepping and racing their machines on both grass and asphalt sides of the fence and the comraderie was something special.
Other highlights from the event included Gary Carlson's hard fought victory in the quick 16 race, and the grass track crew's win against the weather.
