After 34 years of racing and repeatedly being the fastest qualifier for the Vintage World Championship feature race, Mark Anderson won the title at the Eagle River Derby Track Jan. 14, 2007.

Anderson, of Larsen, Wis., drove his Polaris to the win after pulling away from the field early, then having to weather a restart on lap 7 after an accident red-flagged the race.

Anderson has raced everything through the years, but has been onboard a Polaris the last 5 seasons. "I've just had lots of bad luck in the feature race," he said after the win. Quickness, he said, has never been a problem. Last year Jacob Goede won the vintage title.

Anderson was presented the American Snowmobiler American Eagle Award after his exciting win. Our magazine sponsors the giant trophy that is annually presented to the Vintage World Champion in Eagle River.

The 44th Annual Eagle River World Championship Snowmobile Derby will be this weekend, find out more at www.derbytrack.com.
