Ergos for two
Yamaha has the overall ergonomics dialed in, according to our test crew's reports. Its Venture hit top marks for every one of our considerations, except legroom. Our guys found the handlebars, levers and controls to their liking, especially the adjustable brake lever and its pull effort.
Cat's Pantera was rated as the roomiest tandem sled in the field. There is room aplenty for both people on the Pantera. It also tied for best of show in the instrument visibility, throttle and brake lever shape and control accessibility.
Ski-Doo also tied for first in the brake and throttle lever feel, throttle pull, instrument readability and control access. Ski-Doo's Grand Touring remains the only sled to offer tilt steering as a feature.
What our scorecard does not consider is the passenger's features. Everybody seems to have a good method to make the passenger ride experience enjoyable. All four offer minute backrest adjustments to get the pillow set just right. Hand rests are also adjustable to accommodate short-armed as well as long-armed riders. All four models have a footrest block on the runningboards for the rider to use.
