Arctic Cat's Firecat 500 proved itself last winter as one of the most versatile, user-friendly sleds in our test fleet because so many of our riders - ranging from first timers to experienced sledders - found it to be a fun ride.
I still consider myself a novice, and the F5 was the first sled I jumped on this winter when our AmSnow staff ventured into northern Wisconsin for our first trip. It was a little unnerving to go sledding in a group of extremely experienced riders on big horsepower sleds, so I picked the F5 because as a pretty small person I was uncomfortable with the idea of controlling a larger, heavier sled.
And I'm glad I did. This Cat offers great rider ergos, a lot of acceleration and is still small enough for someone my size (5-4) to muscle through the twisties, even in icy conditions.
