lebanon valley asphalt series announced
Amsnow
There's a group of asphalt racers, led by Mark Giammattei (pronounced: "Jimmetti"), in the New York area that have put together a race series at Lebanon Valley Dragway. The race track is located in eastern NY, half way between Albany, NY, and Pittsfield, MA.
The series will run five heads up classes: 600 Pure Stock, 800 Pure Stock, Super Stock, Prostock 800 NSSR-style and Pro Mod. The Pure Stock and NSSR-style Prostock 800 classes will be just as their names imply. Super Stock is basically an open displacement Improved Stock class and will accept any commercially available engine mods, provided they're built on the OEM stock crankcase. Pro Mod is basically a Pro Stock sled with an interesting twist, any size displacement, made for snowmobile engine will be legal, turbos and superchargers will also be allowed. No nitrous oxide will be allowed, per NHRA rules.
All five classes will run 1/8-mile in heads-up competition and there will also be a bracket class open to anyone interested. All sleds must strictly conform to NHRA rules as listed in the NHRA rule book.
Dates for this asphalt series include Aug. 12, Sept. 23, Oct. 14 and Nov. 4. Giammattei noted that a preliminary agreement to have a 10 event series next year has already been made with the track. For more information, call Mark at 518/756-1997 or email him directly at Jimetti@global2000.net.
