The latest rumor circulating through the industry is that Polaris was the hot ticket for spring sales this year in the western market. As the rumor goes, the Vertical Edge RMK captured over half of all pre-season mountain sled sales, with a whopping 53%. Our insiders told us that Ski-Doo's Summit was in second place with roughly 27% of pre-ordered units. Cat followed back a ways with about 17% of all sales and Yamaha barely registered on the radar with about three percent of the pie.

These numbers could change slightly, as Ski-Doo's extended pre-season ordering term numbers start to roll in. However, we expected to see Polaris pull big numbers on its mountain sleds this year, thanks to the migration of the RMKs to the Edge chassis. We would suspect that most Western Polaris riders had been biding their time until the long-trackers were built on the lighter weight, more nimble chassis. Couple that with a set of new, more potent big twins and you've got a serious recipe for churning consumer sales.
