International Snowmobile Racing, Inc. and its affiliates have agreed that snowmobiles in all forms of competition will be required to have an effectively silenced exhaust system by June 1, 2000.

Voting was nearly unanimous in favor of the silenced exhaust rule. Some aftermarket companies have produced quieter exhaust system components to help both recreational and racing sleds become quieter.
