There have been as many rumors and sightings of a Polaris four stroke sled in the past four years as there have been reports of bigfoot roaming the woods of northeastern Minnesota. However, while cruising through the spectators at this weekend's Eagle River Championship Snowmobile Derby, we picked up on some confirming information from a fairly reliable insider at the company.
Though the technical information about the engine remains hush-hush, our source indicated that Polaris plans to build about 500 units for next season, with a significant portion heading up to Alaska and other environmental hotspots. There was no word about dealer allocations or pricing.
According to our source, the sled is expected to come in at about 24 miles per gallon, similar to Arctic Cat's 4-Stroke Touring machine. Full information on the the technology within Polaris' version is scheduled to be unveiled at the dealer meeting in Orlando at the end of February. Be sure to stop back as more information trickles out.
