The recent International Snowmobile Racing meeting was a time for recognizing those individuals who have made a difference for our sport.
Receiving the Engineering Award are Reid Hedlund and Sid Zollinger for their contributions to the Hillclimb race circuit. They developed the traction screws that are being allowed on some classes of Hillclimbs this year. The screws are beginning to replace the expensive titanium traction paddles used in the past.
The Outstanding Contributor to the Sport of Snowmobiling award goes to Joey Hallstrom. He was Arctic Cat Snowmobile Racing Manager for 12 years. He has recently been promoted to Snowmobile Product Manager for Arctic Cat.
Drag Racer of the Year Award goes to Kelly Shilts of New Richmond, Wisconsin. He is 23-years-old and had been named Rookie of the Year by the National Snowmobile Straightline Racing Association when he was only 18. He has excelled quickly and has learned the art of snowmobile racing quickly. He began his racing career in 1994.
The Promotion Award was presented to Ken Avann of Canadian SnoCross Racing and Grant Reeves of Performance Event Promotions. They received the award for their efforts in hosting the Indoor Snocross this past April in Toronto, Ontario. It was the first indoor race since the seventies and the first indoor snocross ever. It took a tremendous amount of planning and coordination to get the event off the ground.
The Booster Award was given to Robert Musselman of International Engineering and Manufacturing. Musselman has been involved with snowmobiling since he was young, and he promotes snowmobiling by displaying the Woody's logo. He has also been a legislative advocate for keeping traction products legal.
Congratulations to all those receiving International Snowmobile Racing awards this year!
